Alicante dentists have made great strides in the last few years implementing best practice dental techniques in some of the less fortunate areas of Spain and the surrounding European regions. Dental hygiene is often forgotten and is pushed aside when it comes to regular health care. However, proper cleaning and regular dental treatments prevents many serious infections and diseases. A team of well renowned dentists of the Alicante area began to see the increasing disregard for teeth, especially with the poor. As a result a group of licensed dentist from the Alicante area formed a think tank to strategize on how to bring quality dental work to poverty stricken areas.
It was at that time; one of the Alicante dentists, or better known in Spain as dentista alicante, was introduced to Dr. Gabino Montiel. Dr. Montiel was a practicing physician and owned several clinics in Spain. Through word of mouth, he caught wind of what the Alicante dentists wanted to do. Immediately, Dr. Montiel began discussing plans to for his clinics to branch out and provide dental services. Excited to bring such a superb dental practice to Spain, Dr. Montiel began making the preparations in his clinic to clear space for the group of dental professionals.
What happened almost immediately after the Alicante dentists arrived was astounding. Lines of people showed up. At least a hundred local Spanish villagers, from young to old, came seeking dental work. It was truly an amazing sight of humanitarianism at its finest.
Day after day the people came and the Alicante dentists performed dental cleanings and operations of all kinds. They even came prepared with take home bags of Alicante proprietary mouth wash that was gentle enough for children but effective enough to wash away germs. In addition to the mouth wash there was a toothbrush, floss and toothpaste. The favorite part of the whole exercise was the satisfaction of being able to educate the people of Spain in proper dental care.
The daily patient visits continued for 3 day straight. While the dentists were tired they knew they were making an impact to many in Spain. Overjoyed at the turn out, the Alicante dentist group began planning other locations and how to recruit other dentists with the same passions. It was not long before more countries were involved and the group formed called the Dentist Coalition (DC). Resources of time and money were pulled together via fund raisers and private donations. The DC was able to visit several other countries in Europe.
If it were not for the caring and knowledgeable dentists in Alicante, the Dentist Coalition would not exist today. It took each Alicante dentist to make a choice to sacrifice their time and recourse to meet the needs of others. Their efforts grew beyond any expectation because a need was identified and was met. Meeting the need of providing proper dental care and dental hygiene education brings us one step closer to meeting the humanitarian need as a whole.
